Sandra Blow RA

Sandra Blow (1925-2006) was an English abstract expressionist whose collage-like paintings often incorporated materials including cement, sawdust, and burlap. Blow studied at St Martin's School of Art under Ruskin Spear from 1942 to 1946, and at the Academy in Rome from 1947 to 1948. She taught at the Royal College of Art from 1960 to 1975 and was elected a Royal Academician in 1978. Her work was included in the Young Artists Section at the 1958 Venice Biennale, and was the subject of a retrospective at the Tate Britain in 2005.
