Alex Ayliffe is a UK-based artist working in oil and pastel. She trained at Westminster University and went on to establish a successful career as a professional illustrator before refocusing on fine art. In 2019 she completed an MA in Fine Art at the University of Hertfordshire, graduating with distinction.

Following her MA, Ayliffe developed an abstract painting practice informed by landscape and the physical act of painting. Her work is concerned with colour, surface and spatial relationships, using abstraction as a means of responding to place without reliance on representation.

In 2020 she moved to Woodbridge in Suffolk, where the East Anglian landscape continues to shape her work. She has exhibited widely, including regular exhibitions at the Mall Galleries in London, two solo exhibitions at Gallery East in Woodbridge, and exhibitions at Snape Maltings. She was shortlisted for the Sir John Hurt Prize at the Holt Art Exhibition.

Her work is held in private collections in the UK and internationally and forms part of the University of Hertfordshire Permanent Collection.
