Original lithographic poster designed and printed by Mourlot. From the pencil and ink lithograph in six colours Woman on a Sofa (1947)
Printed in Paris by Atelier Mourlot in 1984, this poster accompanied exhibitions of Mourlot’s prints, notably at Galleri Jørgen in Oslo, Norway, among other venues celebrating the studio’s 50-year legacy. It reproduces an image from Picasso’s late 1940s lithographs and was issued in an edition of approximately 2,000 copies, marking it as both a collectible and a record of lithographic achievement.
Picasso began working with Mourlot in 1945, producing hundreds of lithographs that elevated the medium from reproduction to creative exploration. These prints combine painterly spontaneity with deliberate composition, integrating gesture and colour with the unique qualities of stone lithography.
